IBM chief Watson application of cognitive generates revenue cuisine on request

It is not to invent a personal chef in the kitchen recipes and innovative techniques every night. A head of kitchen helper named Watson artificial intelligence: But can have the next best thing IBM.

Chief Watson is presented on IBM Jeopardy winning team in 2011 and was for Florian Pinel, senior software engineer at IBM planned. Communicating with the application via the Internet.

"We have about two and a half years," Pinel said. "On Watson won Jeopardy ... and wanted to see if we can help the limits of cognitive computation even more people could push more creativity."

Chief Watson has worked for IBM events, cafes and food truck business. The idea is pretty simple, if there's a handful of ingredients that Watson is to create new original recipes in the situation. In other words, Watson acts as a guide who might be looking for your fridge or shopping at the farmers market.

Earlier this year, the SXSW festival in Texas, the leader Watson helped the food truck IBM beat Vietnamese mixed apples, bacon pudding Belgian chocolate burritos and Peruvian potato poutine Austrians.

So far, the kitchen appliances, which have helped in the kitchen, acts essentially as complicated search engines look over the existing revenue.

"What makes [Chief Watson] totally different from other kitchen appliances ... this is where we are adding new recipes that have never been seen before, create," Pinel said.

"It's not about research that helps people to be more creative and create recipes that meet your needs and food preferences justice."

To generate new revenue, Watson was formed with 35,000 existing recipes Chief. The same, he learned various cuisines ingredients that go together as a rule, and what is needed to make certain types of foods such as soups or burritos.

Kitchen since 1969 Computer Aided

Kitchen appliances, computer or in kitchens are not new. In fact, the first personal computer in the kitchen. Honeywell Kitchen Computer was released in 1969.

"Is to consider all possibilities without prejudice is best." - Florian Pinel, IBM

But not t take off. It weighed 45 kilos, costs $ 10,000, and the user must learn to use the binary code. 001 101 000: Search broccoli recipes, the user must enter the code for broccoli.

As things become easier to use over the decades, the computer in the kitchen acted as a virtual database, a huge binder full of existing recipes.

Chief Watson, a step from the old virtual database, but better than many real leader with years of experience in the kitchen?

"It is better, considering all possibilities without prejudice," Pinel said. "I think you know the way they work is that the executives about the ingredients they like the food that they like, they have a particular style. Chief Watson has no bias when it comes to diversifying of the dishes that I make. "

But bias can be a very useful thing in the kitchen to be, and that's the main Watson could fall flat. With a head on past experience could be, and to get an aversion to the combination of certain ingredients from the previous disastrous results.

Chief Watson does not have many years of experience, and so they might be able to produce unexpected and unusual results - and perhaps the strange lady.
